Welcome to J. L. Thomas Elementary Art!
My name is Mrs. Jennifer Ortega. I teach Kindergarten through 5th grade students once a week for 50 minutes. Your child will use various mediums like paint, chalk, colored pencil, oil pastel, clay, and even digital technology to create artwork. Art is about understanding yourself, making connections to each other, and seeing the beauty in the world.
In spring of 2002, I graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Visual Art Studies, and I started teaching at J. L. Thomas Elementary in the fall. My husband and I have two wonderful children, Jayla and JJ, and a beautiful Sheltie named Onyx. I spend most of my free time creating artwork, including photography, glass fusing, mosaic, and digital designs. I believe every child is an artist…..a bit of creativity from each child will shine to make the world a better place.
